I also threw a party over the weekend. I wore one of my vintage dresses. I think the dress is really cool my parents think it looks like a dress for a stripper funeral.
Dress- Vintage (dreamland), Shoes- Philadelphia, Tights- Urban outfitters, Belt- Filene's Basement
I think this dress is cool because it's close to being a trapeze dress without so much volume. It has a floral sheath dress and a flowy chiffon outlayer. I still don't think I'm ready for all the volume so I belted it. It gives it a more 50s look.
I really like these shoes but they are definitely not the shoes for hostessing in. I took them off after a half hour.

Renaissance Woman

Over the weekend,I went to a renaissance festival. I didn't have an appropriate long dress so I used a cape to make a short dress longer.

The dress is even cuter by itself.

McCalls 6078

I made McCalls 6078 this week. I wanted to make a knit top before I dive into the Donna Karan sweater. I loved the dramatic back on view A. Knits were easier to sew than I thought they would be. I used a combination of zig-zag stitching and strecthing while sewing. If I make another knit project I may try some of the stretch stitches that came with my machine.
I like the top but I don't think it is my favorite on me. I love the back
I think the top looks better on my backwards because it appears more fitted but, you lose all the drama in the back.
Since it was a little too big I offered it to my mom and it looks way better on her.

I wore this to game night.
I got these pants from Yesterdaze in Florida. I think the print is so cool.

I like the navy with the pants but I think next time a navy blouse instead of a tank top. I think this would look good with purple too.

I wore this to school. It's one of the dresses I got from Yesterdaze in Tampa.
Dress-Vintage,Shoes- Aerosoles, Purse-Gift
I really love the color on this dress. It's the perfect color for transitioning between summer and fall.
What attracted me to the dress the most were the corded pintucks. They add so much intrest to the full skirt.

I wore this to school. This is one of my go to dresses. It's so simple to wear and comfortable but looks so put together.
I got my hair cut. It's a smidge shorter and layered.
Dress- Trashy Diva,Tights- Target, Shoes- Aerosoles
I like these Aerosole ballet flats. They have the sweetness of normal flats but the sole is substantial so there is something between me and the ground.

DVF Spring 2013

I love Diane Von Furstenburg. She is the perfect designer for women because you can wear her at any age. I'm sure when I'm 80 I'll still be wearing my DvF dresses.
For Spring 2013, her collection started off in black and white then exploded into color. I loved the blues she choose. The colors are so vivid and the jumpsuits and pants are so effortlessly chic.

The Accidental Dress

My plans for this project were to use McCall's 6331 to make the romper and make Tilly's picnic blanket skirt in the left over fabric. So I would be able to make my romper look like a dress if I wanted to. The inspiration for this romper was Jenny Lewis. I pinned my romper together and instead of looking super cool, I looked 5 years old. I bought the fabric a while ago when I didn't realize quilting cotton was inappropriate for clothes. The fit was pretty good so I may make it in a hot pink linen next summer.

It doesn't look too bad on the hanger but looked immature on me. So I made lemonade from lemons. I took the fabric that I cut for the skirt and cut a slit in the back and used it to make a skirt for the dress. I gathered it on the side because I think that looks better on me than gathers everywhere.
It gapes a bit on the side but I can live with that.
I did a machine zipper and hem on this. My machine zippers still need a little work since I usually insert them by hand. I haven't found a technique that works great for me yet.

A few weeks ago I went to Florida. My family decided to stay a few days in Tampa because we'd never been there before. We didn't really like Tampa but I found a vintage store that made the city great. It's called Yesterdaze. It was my kind of vintage store: packed wall to wall with clothes and cheap. I found so many things but I had to pick a few because there's only so much room in one suitcase.
I got this salmon coat I think it will be so perfect for spring and early fall! I love the sleeve length.
I love this dress because of its flattering shape, mustard color and the lovely details. Just check out those corded pintucks.
I'm not completely sure what to wear these pants with but they are so special I couldn't leave it behind.
Isn't this amazing! I've already worn it to a drag show in Key West. When drag queen approve of your dress, it's a great dress
And I picked some accessories: clip on earrings, telephone brooch, and rainbow ring.
