I wore this to eat at a buffet. I've been dying to wear this hat since I got it for Christmas. I was looking at Anna Dello Russo photos and realized I don't need a special occasion for a special hat.J. Crew dress- Thrift,Hat-Christmas gift,Shoes- Payless, Cardigan- Forever 21, Belt- New York and Company
I went to the thrift store on half off day and it was scary. So many people! I scored this new J. Crew dress for about $10.

I wore this to get some icecream and take my cookbooks back. I feel like I've been getting dressed up for everyday life more. Dress-Costume,Tights- We Love Colors,Scarf-thrift,Shoes- Payless,Jacket- Forever 21
I forgot how much I liked wearing a scarf in my hair. It adds some color to an outfit and it keeps my bangs out of my face. I think this hairstyle would be better if my hair was massively teased in the back but, I adore big hair.

I love fringe dresses because it adds a bit of sass to every step.

Spring Sewing

I don't have a job at the moment so I have a lot of time for sewing. Here's what I'm planning for spring.I love leopard print. I think having a leopard suit would be wonderful and you could pair the separate pieces with other things. I plan on using the Cloverfrom Colette patterns. I think the shape is really nice and the length would be good for me. It took so long to find a basic blazer but thenGertie announced the Starlet Suit Jacket. I love this because it's simple and it comes with videos on tailoring. I think a simple blazer is important since it's going to be made in leopard.
I love my DVF circle dress I don't wear it that much because I don't really go out much but I think a tank version could be great for everyday. I'd make it in black, white and gray so it could be worn with more things. I'm going to try to draft the pattern myself. I think I can do it. I plan on making McCall's 6331 in a red that matches my favorite lipstick, Urban Decay in Revolution. I already have the fabric and notions I will change the skirt to a circle, like I did with my white version.
I'm also helping my friend make a cosplay which is a new challenge for me.

New York Favorites

New York Fashion week is over so let's look at some of my favorites. Prabal Gurung is becoming one of my favorite designers. His collection mixed simplicity with extravagance. I love the pants.

J. Crew has a put together vibe. Things are kept fresh with mixed prints. The colors look so nice.

Diane Von Furstenberg is so fun to wear. I love the combination of yellow and pink. The dress with hands is one of my favorite pieces for fall so far.Chado Ralph Rucci is always sophisticated. I love the full leather skirt. The detail on it is amazing.

There were a ton of fun pieces at Alice+Olivia.

Shoe Saturday: Heeless

I think heeless shoes are so interesting. I have no clue how you would walk in them. The Night Walk were the first heeless shoe to catch my eye. I love the maryjane strap.
The Giuseppe Zanotti pair are stunning. The shape of the shoe is so classic but it gets an update with a missing heel.
The Night Lita combines the Night Walk and the Lita. And it has glitter.
Will you be trying heeless shoes?

Spring Trends: Runway

It's spring soon so let's look at some runway trends.Usually suits for women are just like men's suits but more tailored but not anymore! Spring is bringing on the fun with suits.Peter Som and Mary Katrantzou dived in boldy with prints while Prabal Gurung left the jacket simple. Proenza Schouler made a jacket with awesome seaming. I love the idea of a short suit. For spring I think we can take a cue from Barney Stinson and suit up!
As a girl who loves vintage clothing, I'm excited about a fifties style revival. I loved the joyful prints at Dolce and Gabbana. I think the bra style top could work in everyday life; it could be done as a crop top like on the runway or as the top of a dress. If Dolce and Gabbana was Sandy, Prada was Rizzo. The leather appliqued skirt is amazing! I hope that photographic print dresses really take off. They can take a basic shaped dress to the next level. Mary Katrantzou is a master at photo prints and this spring was no exception. I think the Starry Night dress at Rodarte was practically perfect.Texture doesn't have to mean feathers and 3-d stuff, though I wish it did. It can be as simple as mixing silk with a tee like at Christian Siriano. I love the light feather from Oscar de la Renta. Texture at the bottom of a skirt adds a flirty touch. I love the mix of soft and metal at McQueen.
I have an attachment to pretty aquatic things, maybe because I'm a water sign or because I spend a lot of time helping my step dad pick out fish for the aquarium. There are two different takes on underwater style: literal and imaginative. Mary Katrantzou presents the literal. Her dresses are bright and fun. Mcqueen's dresses are the physical embodiments of coral, treasure and sea nymphs. Dressing like the ocean is the next best thing to having a pet sea horse.
What trends are you looking forward to for spring?

It's time to talk about hats. I think they can take a look to the next level. I love vintage style hats.Ever since a Prada collection a few years ago, I've been in love with turbans. This one is awesome because it's really sparkly.
A bright yellow hat is bold! I love the feathers and how the color brings attention to the face.
This hat is simple and chic. It has a real Holly Golightly vibe. It can also block out the sun.A red pillboxis charming and dainty. I love the rhinestone and bow.

Shoe Saturday: Prada

Today's Shoe Saturday is about the Spring Prada shoes. I'm so in love with them. While some may make the arguement that these shoes are too literal, I think they are the perfect amount of camp. Who doesn't want their feet to look like the back of a vintage Cadillac? My favorites are the blue wedge and the red pump.

Elie Saab

Elie Saab is so stunning. It's my favorite couture collection this season. It feels so weightless and pretty. I want my spring wardrobe to capture this feeling. I love the sheer looks with strategically placed embroidery. The gowns are so gorgeous.I love this peach dress. The way the texture fades away towards the bottom is stunning.
If I were a princess I would wear this dress all the time. The short dresses were amazing too. I love the color on this dress. It would look amazing on a blonde.
