I wore this to watch some movies and grab pizza. I picked up this sweater the other day. I really like it paired with another print. Sweater-LOFT,Skirt-Thrift,Shoes-Payless,Bag-Marc by Marc Jacobs,Tights-Target,Bracelet-Vintage My grandma got me this bracelet and I love it. It's the perfect mix of dainty and obnoxious. I tried wearing this bag across my body. I like it because it is more hands-free.

I finaly got new black flats. My last pair bit the dust a few months ago and I've just been wearing navy with everything. I like my black flats to be simple because I put them with almost everything.

This is the debut of my Trashy Diva dress. I can't wait to wear it in summer with sandals and curls. Dress-Trashy Diva,Shoes-Old Navy,Blazer- Forever 21, Scarf-Thrift,Tights- We Love Colors
I paired it with a blazer to make it more modern and warm for January. I attempted make-up when I wore this. I can't get enough of red lipstick.
I love the bust detail on this dress. This is going to become a go-to dress.

Chanel Couture

It's couture week! Today we're going to look at Chanel. One detail that caught my eye was pockets. I love pockets so hopefully this detail will trickle down to ready to wear. This was a good collectionI loved the ombre suit with the stand collar. Wide necklines really show off the collar bone. It looks awesome paired with a stand collar.For me, there weren't any jaw dropping gowns but it was a great collection despite that. It had awesome necklines.

There aren't a lot of photos of this outfit because it was cold and windy when I was taking photos. Those are subpar conditions for taking pictures without a coat.I don't wear this leather skirt enough. I think it is so awesome.

Vintage Coats

I adore vintage coats. They have an amazing style. Unfortunately, most of them make me look like I'm playing dress up. They are gorgeous to look at. So let's start our weekend with some pretty.I'm the kind of person who knows they can't wear a light colored coat because they tend to spill hot chocolate on themselves. This coat makes me want to become less clumsy. The dramatic collar is my favorite part.
I have a green coat like this red velvet coat. I call it my princess coat; this coat is even more perfect for a princess.
I love the shape of this coat. It's black so it goes with everything. It would look stunning with pops of color in tights, gloves and handbag.
Normally I dislike short coats but I have a weakness for anything leopard. I love the shape on
this. A short swing coat is great if you don't like the way long swing coats look on you.
This is my favorite. I love the detachable cape. The coat is great by itself but, the cape elevates it to a new height of awesome. The color is so wonderful.

Pink and Orange

Pink and orange is my favorite color combo. It can be demure and eye searingly obnoxious. I like both of those things. I'm not sure how I feel about the shape of the pant. I go back and forth. Jacket-H&M,Pants-Thrift,Tee- gift, Shoes-DSW
I think cropped pants that aren't really fitted need heels. I love the polka dot print on these. It's the perfect touch of whimsy.

I don't have many blouses so I paired a Lady Gaga tee with it because Gaga goes with everything.

Shoe Saturday: Irregular Choice

It's Saturday and that means it is time to talk about shoes. Today, I'm spotlighting Irregular Choice. They make shoes that are not for wallflowers. I love the print on the Oz shoe. The clear heel is a great touch too.
I love the shape of theBotoxic shoe; I haven't seen anything like it. And it is leopard so it's and automatic winner in my book.
The Burlesque Beauty is a bit more demure. It has a classic shape but the flowers and print make it fun.
The Glitter Smooch is awesome! It has a classic t-bar shape and it's covered in glitter. The icecream is the cherry on top.

When I went to New Orleans last week, there were a few stores I fell in love with. Trashy Diva was one of them. They have shops on Chartres and Magazine street and online. The store is organized by print. I love a store that has a section devoted to leopard print.
TheCage Dress isn't on sale yet. I love the pink color and the neckline.
Dresses with shelf busts are pretty and hard to find. When you find a vintage one they tend to be very expensive. I love the Honey Dress because it's pretty,afforable and comes in a ton of sizes.
I purchased the Trixie dress. I love a fifties style dress in leopard print. The dress is so comfortable; it has shirring on the sides. I want this in every color!

I haven't really posted in a while. I've been a mix of busy and not busy. I've been working and spending a ton of time on college applications. I have also been embroidering the skirt of this dress with seahorses and fish.

I'm excited that undersea stuff will be on trend in spring. Maybe I can a cool print like the one in this Mary Katrantzou dress and make a cool skirt or cropped pants.

Holiday Dresses

I don't think kids should have all the fun during the holiday season. Kids get to dress up and then when we turn into adults we don't take holiday dressing as seriously. I'm perpetually overdressed. Holidays are no exception. Here are some dresses that won't get you sent to the kids table.
I like to eat my weight in food at family functions. At Thanksgiving, the family member next to me unzipped her pants right at the table! Empire waists are wonderful because you can eat as much as you want and you will never need to unzip your pants. I like this
dress because of the unusual color.
This dress has great details. I love the pleated sleeve. The color is amazing.
Red velvet at Christmas is great because it is like Santa's suit. I love the bow on this dress.
Sometimes your extended family doesn't really talk to you so you may read a book. This
dress looks really comfortable therefore, it is great for reading.

Feather Guide

Today's gift guide is for the girl who thought "I'm like a bird" was about the need to be covered in feathers at all times.
I don't want to be hyperbolic but these Jimmy Choo's are the greatest shoes ever. There's something about purple and blue that looks wonderful. And the feathers have rhinestones! They would look great with anything.
Feather prints are great way to incorporate the fun of feathers without the fear of molting. I love the 70s secretary vibe of this Rachel Roy blouse.
This BHLDN skirt looks so fun to prance around in.I'd pair it with a smart blazer. It also comes in black. A dramatic jacket would look wonderful with jeans. If you want to be noticed the Roksanda Ilincic jacket is just the thing.

I received a lingerie set from Adore Me to review. When you sign up for Adore Me you get to take a fun style quiz. It's about ten questions and you pick the photos that describe your style the best. My showroom had a lot of variety; there were playful sets and some sexy sets. In addition to pairing you with lingerie, they also pick some slips,babydolls and stockings. If you don't like what is in the showroom you can always take the quiz again. I was deciding between this set and the one I picked. I loved the light color in this. This is my set. I didn't have any black underwear before this so it fills a void. It is super comfortable.The bra doesn't have a lot of padding. I like that because I don't need to be pushed up all the time. My favorite part is the hint of lace on top. I think it will be a great bra to wear any time and under sheer and semi sheer blouses.The underwear is different from my usual printed cotton pairs. The lace makes me feel girly and confident. I don't usually wear thongs but this one feels amazing.
Shipping was fast. I ordered Saturday night and received my package Wednesday.So it took 5 days. I loved the pink tissue paper in the packaging.

I wore this to run some errands. I picked up some cookbooks at the library because I can't cook. Dress and bracelet-Vintage,Boots-Payless,Sunglasses-Marc By Marc Jacobs, Sweater and belt- New York and Company I picked up the belt and sweater on Black Friday. I saw my old science teacher and he told me that this outfit is less colorful than normal.

I wish I had a good crinoline to wear under dresses to make the shape look better but having no crinoline make the taffeta a bit more casual.

I love anything covered in sparkles and sequins. Today's gift guide is your guide to the best stuff that will make you or someone else a travelling disco ball. Sparkly shoes are an awesome way to add some shine if you are a bit shy. I know the glitter Miu Miu shoe is everywhere but they are the perfect glitter shoe. My favorite part is the slightly inward sloping heel;its the detail that makes just right. A sequin sweatshirt says, " I may be watching Toddlers and Tiaras but I'm still fabulous and warm." It's a sweatshirt I'd let others see. I adore sequun shorts and this looks like a nice pair. They even have pockets! Maybe I'm listening to too much ABBA at the moment but I love the disco goddess these purple ALDO shoes give off.

Patterned shoes are great way to add some spice to any outfit. I love these Missoni heels. They are a little bit like the shoes an eccentric aunt or Ms. Frizzle would wear. There are so many colors and the heel is a very sensible height. I love a good wedge and a great rose print; this shoe has both.They aren't completely patterned but these DVF mules look so sophisticated and you can detach the ribbon. I love the unconventional shape paired with the professional pattern.This shoe is really cool.

Embellished Tanks

My wardrobe has holes. The holes are separates. I have some skirts and jackets and cardigans; I lack shirts. I have a few tees but not too many real shirts. My plan is to sew some. I really like to wear sleeveless shirts and dresses because they work year round. In the winter they are easily paired with jackets and sweaters without getting bunchy sleeves. While making good basic tops is part of the plan, I think that some embellished tanks would add some interest.I love the the sheen from the Sass & Bide and Dolce & Gabbana looks. I love the pairing of rhinestones and lace too. I love the silk circles on my DVF dress so I think a tank like that would be great. If I made one like that I'd also make one in black and white.
Beaded shells are amazing. They look a bit costumey on hangers but they look wonderful on. This one is vintage from etsy. I found this amazing fabric that would make a wonderful update of the beaded shell.
Everyone knows that I adore feathers. I love thisAnn Taylor top. It would look awesome paired with a pencil skirt or even jeans.

London Part 2

This is my last post about London.Mary Katranzou experimented with the idea of man versus nature. This is really evident in the pieces where flowers are paired with sheen. I love that Katranzou doesn't just put prints on dresses; the prints help shape silhouette. My favorite part was a series of coral reef dresses. Peter Pilotto had an underwater theme. The prints were manipulated very well. The front zippers gave the dresses a scuba feel. I liked the subtle glitter accents in the Sass & Bide collection. My favorite pieces were the embellished tanks.

I wore this a few days ago to see a talent show. It's an outfit featuring pants! I mostly wanted to wear these shoes and sometimes they look odd with tights.I love the print mixing. I think that's what keeps this jeans look from being boring. A friend actually found me because she recognized my bright jacket.The scarf has a really neat print that I want to showcase more next time I wear it.

My style decade

This week's IFB project is about our favorite style decade. My favorite decade to wear is the 1950s. I love the feeling of swishing around in a big full skirt. It was also a fun decade for accesories: sweater guards,shoe clips and brooches!
This is a really old outfit but it includes my favorite 50s dress. It is so lovely with floral chiffon. I do need to wear it more. Today I'm going to my favorite vintage store maybe I'll be back with more 50s clothes.

I wore this to go driving and grab some lunch. I really like the combo of the dainty pink skirt and the leopard print. Dress(worn as top)- Forever 21,Skirt-New York and Company,Tights- no clue,Shoes- Old Navy, Jacket and bag- Marc Jacobs I love this jacket. My stepdad got it for me my freshman year of high school. It was my first real piece of designer clothing. It has a great color and it is so velvety. It has some faded spots but I still wear it a lot in the fall.

I can't wait to wear this skirt more in the spring.

London Part 1

I'm always blown away by outerwear from Burberry Prorsum. Spring 2012 is no exception. The plum coat was wonderful.Plum is such an unexpected spring color! Long pleated skirts in a variety of colors were also shown. Dresses had tight bodices and pleats that echoed the skirts and coats.The Erdem collection had a very mature print that was done youthfully. I loved the contrast. A look with a wise white shirt and playful hot shorts was one of my favorites.Pretty pleats upped the femininity in this ladylike collection.Jonathan Saunders was interesting. There were lady like vintage inspired pieces and easy beachy looks. The print were modern and youthful. David Koma's girl is really cool. She's the kind of girl that you admire and are intimidated by.The dresses were so hip. There was fringe and very well done appliques.

I love the waist detail on the dress, it's what attracted me to the dress after the velvet. This dress fits really well and is so great for fall and winter. I like that it isn't as formal as you expect a velvet dress to be.

The light was so weird today. I really need to learn to use the manual setting on my camera better.

This bag is my mom's. I love it. It has a great shape and it smells like leather.

What did you wear the most?
I wore the crochet dress and leopard shoes the most. It turns out that my leopard shoes are uncomfortable for long periods of time. I have a new love for my crochet dress its a great basic with a bit of sass. I also wore my studded shoes a bit but there aren't many photos because they were mostly worn at night when it's too dark for me to take photos.
The least?
I wore my ankle boots once because I still don't know what to wear with ankle boots. I only wore my pencil skirt once. I'm not sure why I only wore that once.
Not at all?
I wore them all at least once!
For lesser worn pieces what will you do to get more wear out of them in the future?
I think I'll pair my ankle boots with my cropped pants. And I just need to figure out how to wear a pencil skirt without looking too secretarial.
After the challenge is there anything you realize doesn't work in your wardrobe? Can you fix that?
I think all the pieces work in my wardrobe. I was worried about the long hem on the DVF dress but I like it.

I wore this to go run some errands. I got some new boots too. I'm kind of unsure how I feel about this outfit. I like the top part. I think the colors and layers look nice together. I like the tights with it too but I think the shoes kill it. I don't think that two kinds of animal and the eatles mix well together. Next time I don such dramatic tights, I'll wear a simpler shoe. I made this skirt a while ago. Maybe about two years ago and my hook and eye fell off and I never fixed it. I fixed it a few days ago because I wanted to wear it when I went out with a friend and I love this skirt. I think I may make it in some more colors.

Barbie dresses I want

I went to the Barbie collector website because I have nice memories of getting the special holiday Barbie every year. When I went to the website, I wished I had a reverse shrink ray because Barbie has some nice dresses that I want. Van Gogh dressThis dress is so charming. Retro and modern. I love the full skirt and the print is used so nicely. Barbie also has really great hair with this dress.
To Catch a Thief This one is from a movie. It's just so darn glamourous. The blues look so nice together.
Darya This dress is amazing. The embroidery looks so nice. It looks like a McQueen dress. This doll is dressing how I want to dress.
Tribute This Barbie is so over the top glamourous so pretty much the exact opposite of most of the Barbies I played with. I'm in love with the embroidery and swooping skirt.
Joan Holloway 'Nuff said. But really having a Joan Holloway dress would help ease the pain of the long Mad Men hiatus.

I really like how this dress has a bit of crochet without a lining so fun tights can peek through. This dress is a part of my clothing challenge. I feel like I'm wearing it pretty well so far. Navy looks great paired with pink.

NYFW 4

This is the last of my New York show posts. This one is short and sweet. Proenza Schouler had a drab color pallete; it makes sense with a forties inspiration but the addition of teal was a much needed touch. I adore the blazers with matching shorts. The final looks had such interesting draping.
Chado Ralph Rucci is usually for the more mature woman but this season there were a lot of youthful looks. A white beaded dress could look wonderful on so many women. The workmanship was impeccable as always. I wish I could find detail shots. There were very figure flattering insets. Looks are bold but understated.
Next up for my fashion week recaps is London.

Heels are so beautiful but, flats are practical. I love flats but they don't last very long with me. For today's Shoe Saturday I'm spotlighting some flat shoes. I really like these Anthropologie flats. The color is so rich and the flower detail is very sweet.
These Miu Miu brogues are so fun and wild. The zebra print suede really updates the classic style.
Mary janes are one of my favorite shoes styles. I like this Miu Miu pair because they are so shiny.

Today I'm going to show you my Philly outfits and my challenge progress report. I wore this on the first day. We did a little bus tour and the Eastern State Penitentiary. I wore my crochet DVF dress which is one of my challenge pieces. I like this dress but I don't like it with this color tights.

Packing

My family went to Philadelphia last weekend. Vacations are interesting with my family because my mom loves to plan while my stepdad doesn't. We didn't really know what we going to do once we got there. My family knew that we wanted to see the Eastern State Penitentiary and the aquarium. Other than that we didn't know what to do. So how do you pack a suitcase if you aren't sure what you are going to do? I'll show you what I did.
Colors and Warmth- Most guides recommend that you stick to a color palette. That really works when you wear a lot of separates but since I'm a dress girl, I did a twist on that and just kept my outerwear coordinating. I brought a grey sweater and a white blazer. They both matched every outfit but they also went with each other so if I got cold, I could put the blazer on top of the sweater. Staying comfortable is a big deal on vacation. You want to look like your stylish self. I think having sleeveless or short sleeved items is a good way to pack for fall,spring and summer vacations. Winter you'd probably want to have some sleeves. Sometimes it is really hot outside and cold inside so taking your sweater with you will be more practical than wearing something long sleeved all day. I brought light tights and a pair of fleece lined tights in case it got cold at night.

Personal Style- This should really help you pack your suitcase. Take what you love to wear just make sure you are able to move in it for a while. You should also consider your environment. No matter how much you may love chiffon dresses, I think we can agree that you wouldn't want them in a place where you have no clue what you are doing. Vacation is a great place to try out new styles. If you have a blue lipstick you want to try, vacation is the perfect place to try because most likely you won't see the people you encounter again, so you may be a bit more confident. I would recommend bringing a just in case outfit. I brought jeans just in case the family did something athletic. I also suggest bringing a smart outfit or a smart jacket in case you decide to eat somewhere nice
Shoes and other- I brought two pairs of flats I tend not to wear heels on vacations because I assume I will be doing a lot of walking. I bought the pink suede boots while I was away. I also brought my lipstick,blister stick (that I neglected to use) and a big purse. Next time, I'll pack a smaller purse because by the end of the day the purse started to hurt my shoulder. Also, remember to pack underwear and pjs. Sadly I don't travel with a nice yellow trunk. I don't know if I got any outfit photos from Philly but if they didn't turn out good enough, I may put them back on.

Fall Sewing Wishlist

For my fall sewing list I have a bit planned and hopefully I can manage to finish a good percentage of it.
1. Diaper Bags- They aren't my favorite thing to make but my mom wants a few for her friends.
2. Embroidering my undersea dress. Its so pretty and I can't wait to wear it.
3. Red dress. It will be in the same style as the undersea dress but in a red that matches the lipstick shade I tend to wear.
4.50s style tanks in a variety of colors. I have so many skirts but very few blouses that aren't tees. So I want to add some nice sleevless tops with some neckline variations to my wardrobe.

Mustard

On the dress Nina challenge of Project Runway Michaeal Kors said that no one gets excited about yellow. As I watched in my yellow cardigan, I said, "ME,I get excited about mustard." I love mustard yellow. I have a mustard yellow cardigan that I wear with everything seriously. I guess in my mind mustard yellow goes with everything. Mustard is a great color anytime of the year. I love to wear it with fall food colors like: pumpkin,cranberry, and carmel. It's also a good transition color when paired with bright, saturated hues.
This is a warm weather fall look. The ASOS blouse has a really nice button back and pussy bow that give it a vintage vibe. A teal skirt looks lovely with yellow. A pair of sparkly shoes and a ring add some glam.
The fall look is very cozy but sophisticated. Mustard
pants are the center. It is topped with a
Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater in a warm cinnamon color. DVF shoes make the outfit chic. And a
Temporary Secretary necklace adds a little but of whimsy.

NYFW Part 3

In my mission to make Fashion Week as long as possible, here are three short reviews to start your week. We have Alice + Olivia,Carolina Herrera, and Marchesa. Saying Alice + Olivia was slightly disjointed is an understatement. The connecting thread was retro but, a specific era wasn't nailed down. However, I did like most of the looks on there own. A floral sheath and floral wide legged pants were my stand out pieces.
Marchesa always makes me wish I was a princess. They use feathers and fringe so well. Fringe was used in a new way in a white dress dripping with sex appeal. Marchesa is living up to its namesake.
Carolina Herrera showed a great bird print that looked spectacular in maxi dresses and peeking out of coats. This is a collection for a girl on the go; the pieces looked breezy and like they could pack very well. There is a jacket with a wide lapel that I love. Some of the dresses have a slight geometric feel to them.

It's kind of a 60s style bob. I brought in this photo from Vogue's September issue. I need to tease it more to get some more volume. I love it and its easy to take care of.

This photo really shows off the darts and pleats in the bodice that manipulate the swirls. I worked so hard on this dress and I think it will look good in the fall too. I wore my challenge flats today and I think the prints look good together.

Fall Challenge Pieces

It's time for me to unveil the pieces for my clothing challenge. I only used five pieces this time because I don't really get out too much. More than half of my pieces are shoes. The clothing pieces are difficult pieces for me.
My two clothing pieces are this navy Diane Von Furstenburg dress and a red pencil skirt; they are both thrifted. I've had this dress for a while and I rarely wear it because I feel the skirt is long and I have a slight aversion to navy on myself because I wore navy everyday in middle school. The skirt I got recently. I love this skirt because it fits so well and it has a little touch of sequin making it very me.I'm just not sure how to wear pencil skirts without looking too secretary.
The ankle boots are challenge becuase I still don't know what to pair with them. The flats were in the mix last time and I didn't really use them but I hope I will this time. My new shoes are in the challenge because I want to get my money's worth.

This isn't a proper outfit post because I didn't wear these shoes today;I bought them today. After pining after Sam Edelman's for months, I saw these in the mall and got them. Shoe Saturday:Studs

I've been so busy with work and drivers ed that I haven't been commenting and posting as much. I'm done drivers ed now. I decided that a few Saturdays when I post it will be about shoes. I'm calling it "Shoe Saturday" because alliteration is fun. This week's Shoe Saturday is focusing on studs. Studs add some badassery to otherwise plain shoes or plain outfits. The Sam Edelman Lorissa,my favorite shoe on this list, looks classy from the front but fun from the back. The mullet of shoes. Imagine pairing it with fifties style dresses or wide legged pants for a more casual look. The rhinestones add some sweetness. I saw these shoes at Nordstrom a while ago and showed them to the family and they asked if I was getting into S&M. So they may not be the best shoes if you hang with a conservative crowd.
They look like simple pumps with a bow on them at first glance but, when you move in closer you realize the bow has some studs on it.The Bruno Magli heelsare a great mix between sweet and sassy. With a bow for your girly side and studs for your wild side, this shoe becomes a basic shoe with a twist.
The skull is the center piece of this Alexander McQueen shoe. The studs frame it so nicely. The skull reminds me of mermaids at the bow of a ship.Suede is the perfect fabric for this shoe. Even with a giant rhinestone skull at it's center, this shoe manages to be subtle.

New York Part 2

Art as inspiration is nothing new but Rodarte makes it interesting. At times the shapes were so interesting that I barely noticed the Van Gogh prints. I loved the nipped waist and cut-outs in unexpected areas. Rodarte always makes stellar knitwear and this time was no exception. Color blocked sweaters start as a cable weave at the top and change to a basket weave. It creates a cozy statement piece. While literal, a standout piece for me was the Starry Night dress. A pretty print makes the dress disheveled and neat all at once.
Jenny Packham feels very ethereal. Tons of texture from lace,embroidery and sequins. The collection swayed between two extremes: very decorated and simple. I preferred the decorated looks but, the simple pieces act as a nice palate cleanser between looks. I understand why Kate Middleton loves her. While some looks are provocative;they are always classy.
Jill stuart is tropical and girly. Shades of orange were prodominant in the begining and scallop hems kept things soft. Soft rolled collars topped double breasted jackets. A butter yellow one is a favorite of mine. She added texture with quilting and mixes of different fabrics.I can see this collection working on girly girls from coast to coast.
Western and Bollywood? Not a typical mix of inspirations but Thakoon made it work. It has the bold colors one associates with Bollywood but with a classic western style. At first, the looks seemed a bit clunky but as the collection continued the looks grew better and better. The prints are mixed with flare. The full skirts will be fun and flattering to wear. The idea of a sheer sari style top is interesting. I think it could be a light alternative to a spring scarf.
Christian Siriano really excels at mixing formal and casual. Pairing tees with long velvet skirts is unexpected. A lovely chartreuse ran through the collection in all kindsof fabric. A skirt with ruffles is my favorite look;I'm already planning a d.i.y inspired by it. He really lets his creative flag fly in evening wear. Even with ruffles,feathers and tulle everywhere it doesn't feel expected or forced.

Fall Floral

I wore this to look at Missoni for Target the other day. There wasn't any left. I bought this dress in May from Dreamland and needed a nice fall day to unveil it. Next time, it will hopefully be a little cooler so I can wear it with my crinoline. It has a really nice subtle v-back.

New York Fashion Week Part 1

It's fashion week in New York and I have been browsing it. Okay, stalking obsessively is more like it, I have a notebook. I'm going to talk about 5 collections I like so far. So far, next spring will be colorful and joyous.
While inspired by a nude photographer, Prabal Gurung looks lady like. I love the wilting flower prints. The way the prints and solids are laid out create a really flattering hourglass. The pants on a floral suit look like a Rorschach test. Fabric was used to add volume to shoulders and hems on printed dresses. A sheer dress with black detailing is a stand out look.
I would describe the Jenni Kayne collection as a fun country club; it is basic preppy pieces with some done in a colorful way. I'm picking up a Cher Horowitz vibe from how well it is coordinated. I adore the playful short suits and the wonderfully tailored jackets. The pink preppy skirt look is my favorite.
Gary Graham is fantastic a bit darker then I usually like. Tea stained coats and dresses provide some whimsy and old world charm. I like the way some of the sheers were handled:paired with something shorter underneath. It adds a bit of mystery.Graham has a great future ahead of him.
Cushnie et Ochs uses simple color palette: white,pink,yellow,tan and black. There were cut outs that made the little white dress sexy. Full leather skirts create a flirty and girly look. The gravity defying necklines interest me. A bright yellow skirt suit will make its wearer into a ray of sunshine.
Vivienne Tam,my absolute favorite so far, put on a great show. I want to wear everything she showed. The collection feels like a flower. I love the short suits. Her interesting prints give a nice spice to basic cigarette pants. Mixed prints make simple separates more exciting. A pink and orange look showcases an amazing color combination and some great texture.

The weather has been dreary the past few days so I decided to put together a fun outfit in dreart colors. I kept the jewlery simple since the sweater and shorts provide sparkle. I think I will get more wear out of the shorts in fall because they feel very casual with tights. I love this bag. It has a ton of storage,isn't too large and smells like leather. I borrowed it from my mom because I thought it went better with my outfit than the purse I usually use. I wore this to go get lunch with my mom. We were going to go to the food truck I like but then it started to pour so we tried a place close to our house.

The P Word

Petrifying and pants begin with the same letter,P. Is this a coincidence? I don't think so. I love them on others. I truly do. My fellow bloggers wear them so chicly. Audrey Hepburn wore pants even Lady Gaga wear them on occasion. If these iconic and stylish women can wear them then why do I think that pants don't work for me? Is it four years of wearing almost nothing but skirts and dresses? Possibly but, I love jumpsuits, the middle ground between my beloved dress and pants. Is it because my rainbow striped jumpsuit is kind of ridiculous? Maybe. Pants just have too many variables: length,crotch depth, making sure it fits in both the waist and hip, avoiding the dreaded camel toe and visible panty line. Then you have all the different styles: flare,boot-cut,skinny,wide leg, tapered.Don’t even get me started on how much jeggings confuse me! It is too much! Calculus is easier than finding a suitable pair of pants. I don't want jeans. I have two pairs: skinny jeans and really tight skinny jeans.I need pants. Trousers if you will.
Pants project an image of power and know-what-you-are-talking-about-ness. Yves Saint Laurent liberated women by putting them in pants. I’m liberated, I guess. I could wear pants;I guess I’m afraid. Of all the things I’m afraid of, pants are by far the silliest. I shouldn't be afraid of them.I loved pants as a child,actually, I really enjoyed knit cotton pants but they were pants nonetheless. I think pants made me feel tougher and less vulnerable. Now, I just rely on cynicism and sarcasm. I wear pants ever day to work because I have to. They happen to be the least flattering pants ever made. Turns out the word unisex is a fancy way of saying, “these are man pants but we will make them small enough for you to fit into.” The only plus side of man pants: big pockets.
This year will be the year for many things: going to Paris,finally finishing 1984 and finding a pair of pants for me.

I wore my Star Wars dress to a family cookout. Sadly, the blazer didn't last too long because it was hot out but the few minutes I had it on, I was quite stylish. I love the bracelet because it is such a dramatic statement piece.

Nailing it

This is my submission to this week's IFB project. The theme is nails. I'm going to show you what is currently on my nails and the story of my first manicure. I'm currently wearing Sally Hansen Salon effects in Check it out. I love these nail sticker because they are quick to do (about 20 minutes from prep to the end) and they are a fun change from my usual no polish or red polish. They also last a long time. When I did the leopard ones they lasted a bit over a week. I think using them for the fun prints makes the most sense because they cost way more than a normal bottle of nail polish.

My first real manicure was around last Christmas. I went with my mom and grandmom. Occasionally I would get my nails painted by my mom's nail lady that used to come to our house but I had never gotten the whole treatment. My grandmother love to have her nails done so I went with her. We went to the little nail salon near her house and I picked out a red that matched my lipstick because I'm predictable.

Then I went with my manicurist to the table where she proceeded to push back and cut my cuticles. I don't know why this is done. Then she lotioned my hands. We didn't talk to much; I am terrible at doing small talk. She told me that my grandma and I were adorable together. Then as she painted my nails asked if I had a boyfriend. I said no and she asked why don't you have one? I didn't really have a good answer then my nails were done and she moved on to the next customer.
That was my last manicure, I haven't gone back since. Maybe because I'm lazy or because I'm bad at new situations. What is on your nails?

Mini Braids

I wore this outfit to go to Bob Evans with my grandma. It's entirely made by me except the shoes,belt and purse. It's all made from Cynthia Rowley patterns. I love them because they are challenging but worthwhile.I took some photos on my grandma's porch. I would have gotten more there but I forgot my tripod.

I did mini-milkmaid braids in my hair. I saw the idea on a blog but she did an updo behind it. I just left my hair down and pushed my bangs to the side.
I'm really excited to wear this jacket more this fall. I really love the dark denim it feels a bit more formal than a light denim and I love being just a touch more formal.

Challenge Report Card

So it is September and that means that my August clothing challenge is over. For the month of August, I challenge myself to get more wear out of nine pieces in my closet: a pink dress,pink bed jacket,chiffon dress,blueberry top,embroidered skirt,sequin shorts,pink shoes,leopard shoes, and polka dot shoes. Now is the time to see how I did. So I made a little questionnaire. What did you wear the most?
I wore my polka dot shoes and pink dress the most. There aren't a lot of documented photos of the shoes but I guarantee you that I wore them a lot. I wore the pink dress twice because I'm determined for it to fit into my wardrobe because I put many great details into the dress.
The least?
I wore the shorts,leopard shoes and pink shoes the least. The shorts feel too formal for day but I feel that I can work them easier for day in the fall. The leopard shoes were worn once because they still need to be broken in. The pink shoes were worn once because they feel very very dainty and I don't think I'm used to that.
Not at all?
I didn't wear the bed jacket, skirt and chiffon dress. I don't know what to wear with the jacket. I never thought about the skirt and it is just too hot to wear a dress with so many layers in this heat.
For lesser worn pieces what will you do to get more wear out of them in the future? I think I will pair my shorts with tights and jackets in the fall. I'll find/make some wide belts for my pink dress. I will break out the chiffon dress in spring when it is a bit cooler. I still don't know what to wear with the pink jacket.
After the challenge is there anything you realize doesn't work in your wardrobe? Can you fix that?
Sadly, I don't think the pink jacket works well in my current wardrobe. It looks out of place with black. I do occasionally wear around the house. I could wear it the few days a year I wear jeans to add a girly edge.

Pink dress

I wore this about a week ago to grab some Italian food with my mom. The last time I wore this dress I decided that it needed a wide belt. So I paired it with my wide belt and I think it looks better. I still think the fit is a bit off but I can live with it. I think better undergarments would make it better.I'm slowly learning that pushup bras don't work with everything. Dress-Handmade,Belt-Forever 21, Bracelet- Gift,Shoes- Old Navy Wednesday marks the end of my clothing challenge. There are so pieces I haven't worn that I don't think I will get a chance to wear.

Fall Part 2

This is the second and final part of my fall fashion post. You can read part 1 here. One of the trends I talked about was mid-calf skirts. I really like the B. Jones Style skirt because of it's vintage shape and the flocked velvet print. The crimson midi is an excellent choice because the color and fabric can be dressed up or down depending on the blouse. A 60s dress is a nice dramatic way to bring in a geometric print and a longer length. If you read this blog often, you can probably guess that sequins are my favorite trend. Shine can go from day to night. A sequined crop top would look amazing with a high waisted pencil skirt and cardigan. I don't think I need to explain why this bra and short set is great. Velvet is a good fall trend because it can help keep you warm. The ASOS dress is a great party piece. These Dvf pants are so cool and velvety. The Rodarte for Opening Ceremony coat isn't for sale yet but it is so regal and wonderful. Leather is what all the cool kids are wearing.Leather shorts are mystifying to me. I think leather is warm shorts are not and I just get confused and envious because they look cool. Shorts can go into fall with the addition of tights. This H&M skirt is popular in the blogosphere and I understand why. The toughness of leather and the girlyness of a full skirt is a fun combo.Leather jackets are always in style.

Painted Face

A great outfit for a not so great day. I got called in for work on my day off and then I got some things taken from me. I was uspet so when my friend called me to go out I got really dressed up to get some Italian ice. In my mind, DVF makes a bad day better. Dress- Diane Von Furstenberg, Shoes-Payless, Bag- Kate Spade, Cardigan- Forever 21 I like this dress. It's a lot more wearbale than my other DVF because it has a lot of black. I love Diane Von Furstenberg becuase her dresses make me feel so confident. We went to the mall to get the Italian ice and there was free face painting and I couldn't resist.I used the manual setting on my camera and things aren't blue anymore! I don't know why my face is missing in the first picture but I think it looks cool. Do you like to get overly dressed up on your bad days?

I had an end of summer party. I made the dress code travel. I went with a nautical sailor loook. Skirt and Shoes - thrift, Shirt- Rave, Necklaces- Gifts I wore my challenge shoes. It didn't even make it to the party because I needed to help some friends bring in food in a massive rainstorm. I do like the color they give to an all black and white outfit. I took pictures next to a globe to bring in some travel theme into the photos.I saw these really cute cupcakes on Cupcakes take the Cake and thought they were adorable. I made my own version (shown above). All you need is cupcakes,icing and two bags of m&ms. They were a big hit though one of my friends thought they were old ladies.

Change of Scenery

I wore this when my mom and I were going to see a movie and wound up going to Little Italy instead. My mom took these photos. Blogging Tool kit

The theme of this week's IFB project is blogger tool kit. I'm sharing what is in mine.

Laptop- This is my laptop. I got it last year, I use to use a Gateway that was almost as old as I am. I like this because it is very portable so if I wanted to write a post from my living room while waiting for a cake to finish baking, I can.

Notebook- I got this notebook from Marshall's. It has a really pretty cover with early Andy Warhol drawings. I use it to write down post ideas and take notes on runway photos. I used to use my laptop for that but I found it's quicker to leave the photo up and write in the notebook and it's always there to flip back to.

Index Cards- Index cards are along the same lines as the notebook. I use them for post ideas, to-do lists, writing down which photos to use. I'm going to start using them to start writing down photography tips and keep them in my bag for when I take my outfit photos.

Pencil - I use really cheap Papermate mechanical pencils. I love them so much. Most mechanical pencils break for me. It turns out I write very intensely but these do not break.

Ipod- I use this to check emails in other areas of my house.

Camera (not shown) I use the camera to take my daily outfit photos. It's not shown because it was taking this picture. I use a Sony Cybershot.

Tripod( not shown)- The tripod is also an important part of my toolkit. It was a really good investment for my photos. I used to have to take photos in certain spots because I needed to balance my camera on something. Now I can go anywhere.

Fall Fashion Part 1

Fall is upon and and we are going to take a look at five fall trends that I've found. We're checking out: monochromatic looks,leather,velvet,mid-calf length, and glitter. Monochromatic is a wonderful look for fall. Diane Von Furstenberg used different shades of blue,all the way down to the accessories to make an interesting look. Using entirely different shades is something easy and probably already in your closet. Alice and Olivia used too matching suit-like pieces mixed with a darker texturized piece to look cool and put together. Chado Ralph Rucci was very into texture in this monochromatic look. I love all the close shades but the fur,sheer,and suede make the reds look less similar. It would be hard to wear all those textures in different colors without looking circus-y. Monochromatic looks are fresh for fall.Leather has been hot for a while; it's still going strong. 3.1 Phillip Lim used a lovely shade of brown. Alexander Wang paired leather pants with a jacket that contains leather accents. Double leather creates a tough look. Balmain created a leather suit. Leather or pleather adds toughness to fall clothing. It would look great juxtaposed with a girly skirt or dress.Mid-Calf skirt are another carry-over trend from spring. The McQueen skirt is interesting because it uses zippers to go from a pencil silhouette to a flare. Chloe has a flowy hippie skirt that would look great with boots. The straight skirt from Cynthia Rowley can go from business to pleasure easily. Mid-calf skirt will be hot for fall and they will provide a bit more warmth. Velvet is such a rich fabric and perfect for fall. Cynthia Rowley combined it with a sheer. While, Givenchy used it in a mini skirt for an accent. Proenza Schouler has put a simple dress in a wild zig zag velvet print. Velvet looks great in prints,burn-out and just a simple solid.Glitter and sparkles may be my favorite trend. Alice and Oliva did a simple ballerina dress with a glittered top. Alexander Wang used glitter to make pants that I, a staunch dress and skirt wearer, wants to wear. The pants are so Bowie. Monique Lhuillier used subtle sheen in a girly dress.

My friends came to my house for game night last night and I wore this. The first friend who arrived said that I looked like a schoolteacher. We played game of things, Uno and taboo(which I am a master at!). Dress and shirt- Made by Me, Shoes-TargetI wore my blueberry shirt with my blueberry shirt with my blueberry dress. I think it would cute or children's show host like with blue shorts.I tried to use the manual setting on my camera. Somehow things turned out blue. Sequin Shorts- Worn to: Birthday party. I feel they work good in the daytime with a casual shirt. In the fall, I will pair them with tights.
Polka Dot Heels- Worn to: Bowling and a job interview. They add much needed spice to simple outfits.
Pink Dress- Worn to: Library This dress needs intense heels and I think era appropriate undergarments would help.
Leopard Shoes- Worn to:Library. They go with a lot they just need to be broken in.

I wore this to go to a surprise bowling get together that my friend planned for her boyfriend. I am the world's worst bowler but a pretty good smack talker.I have high hopes for me being good at laser tag.Shirt- JC Penney, Shoes- DSW, Skirt- Thrift, Brooch-Vintage, Bag- Kate Spade I was a little bit more dressed up than everyone else. I used hot rollers on my hair and while my bowling game was terrible my hair looked good and even looked nice after the curls fell out. It still had some volume. I wore shoes from my clothing challenge. I love this little brooch. I picked it up the last time I went to my favorite vintage store, Dreamland. Here is my what's in my bag for the IFB project. My bag is a Kate Spade bag my mom got me for Christmas a few years ago. I use it all the time. I keep a pair of flats in my bag when I wear heels. Urban Decay lipstick in Revolution and a mirror for applying lipstick
Ipod,cellphone and sequined wallet
A pair of sunglasses ( usually I have two or three pairs in there)
and a blister stick which is such a lifesaver when wearing heels or breaking in shoes

Second Impressions

I wore this outfit to a second interview. I kept it simple because I wanted to make a good impression. Dress-Marshalls,Cardigan-New York and Company, Shoes- Payless, Bag- Kate SpadeI wore the cardigan buttoned to keep it super super classy. I kept the accessories simple (nonexistent). I wore my comfy heels that I used to do the musicals in. My dog joined me when I was taking pictures. She looked very confused.

Audrey Style

Audrey Hepburn is one of my style icons. Cliched, I know but sometime cliches are cliches for a reason. I'd describe my style as "Audrey Hepburn on an acid trip" meaning I tend to stick to fifties and sixties shapes but go crazy with the color. The school yearbook asked me that question; I couldn't use that quote so I said, "vintage with a twist'. Hepburn has a simple lady like style.Hepburn wore coats so well. While most envied the little black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany's I loved the orange coat. By loved I mean went on an extensive hunt for a similar coat and wound up with a nice orange pea coat. I realize they aren't the same but I'm still waiting for the perfect one. While the coats her characters wear are simple they have a striking detail like a bright color or stand collar that make them unique.Audrey would have loved this pink Anthropologie coat. The stand collar and color are very vintage inspired.

Trenches are wonderful and romantic. Just ask Holly Golightly. They are always in style. The khaki trench is classic and great for every occasion. The striped one is a daring choice.

When talking about Audrey Hepburn's style it is impossible to ignore the little black dress. She made it an icon.The crisscross dress has an interesting back. The BB Dakota dress is simply adorable.

McQueen

Yesterday, my stepdad and I went to New York to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit. We had a quite a journey getting there. Our car stopped in New Jersey, thankfully, the nice people at Autozone gave us a jump and replaced our battery.

We got to the museum and got in the longest line ever. It was like a line at Disney World. We met a super nice woman from D.C.

When we reached the end of the line our patience was rewarded and we were greeted with that microscope slide and ostrich feather dress. My stepdad went ahead and said he would meet me at the end.

The first room had all of these wonderfully tailored jackets. This one was my favorite.This exhibit made me notice pieces I've never noticed before. Like the one above. It was so stunning in person. The place was peppered with his quotes which only made me love everything more.At the end, I was face to face with my favorite dress of all time. It's romantic and dark at the same time. That's what McQueen is all about. Somehow the dress is even more perfect in person. It was a wonderful exhibit and worth all the wait.

Blank Canvas Dress

I finished sewing my perfect summer dress. I haven't started the embroidery yet. I used McCall's 6331. I made a major change. I didn't like the style of skirt so I changed it to a circle skirt. The skirt is pretty short but I love my skirts short and my heels high. The embroidery on the skirt will be a coral reef with coral,seaweed,fish, and a seahorse or two. I found some new stitches to try out. They'll provide a bit of texture.

I made view C. I really like this pattern. It fits nicely and I love the slight bustier style top. I'm going to make the romper next in the brown floral. Since I love the top half of the dress, I may use it to make a few tops. If you read the sewing plan post you know that I lack stylish tops.Since it was a halter style I didn't want to wear a bra with it so I used Sewaholic's bust pad method. She used five circles and said it wasn't enough. I used 11 and I think it may be too much but it still works well. Here's a detail of the bust. I found it difficult to get the cups in on the first try so I hand basted them in. You can see that it's a bit padded. There's also top stitching. I used a waist stay because the skirt will need to hold up a lot of embroidery and the last pieces of my sanity. Since the top was lined I left a small hole where the stay could go through. I also hand-picked the zipper.

Sequin Shorts

August Challenge

I have a lot of clothes I love but don't wear. I'm sure you do too. My sartorial goal for August is to incorporate these nine items (2 tops,2 bottoms,2 dresses,3 shoes) into my wardrobe more. I feel like if I do this once or twice a season I will wind up with a well worn closet.1. This beautiful pink jacket. I love it because it is so floaty and girly. I just have no clue what to pair it with. I think it looks silly with black and much too sweet with really girly items.

2. Blueberry top made by me. I like it but no clue what to wear it with. It looks good with it's companion dress. 3. Handmade embroidered skirt. I spent a good three months embroidering it and it looks so good but I never wear it.

4. Forever 21 sequin shorts. I was so excited to get them. I need to figure out how to make them work for daytime.5. Pink Joan dress. I love it. It's well made. The hand picked zipper is stunning. It longer than I'm used to so I sort of feel like a one woman salute to pepto bismol.
6. Vintage Chiffon dress. I love love love this it just feels so costume-y. This is the piece that concerns me for this month because it may be too hot to wear it. It has a lot of layers.

7. Polka dot heels. Cute and worn occasionally.

8. Pink heels. Adorable but they feel so sweet.

9. Leopard flats. Most of my flats look like they've had a rough life these still look presentable.

I wore this to take some books back to the library. I didn't pick up any because I have Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, This side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Time Traveler's Wife . Typing it out makes it seem like a weird mix. If you have any book recommendations leave them in the comments.Do you see the big smile on my face? It's there because I can finally leave the house without turning into a massive pile of sweat and I played music when taking photos. I really like this dress. I rarely wear it because it's white and I'm clumsy. Sewing Plan

I've been thinking about a sewing plan.It's made me think of hole in my wardrobe. There is a chance I won't accomplish all of them. My sewing goal is to start using nicer fabrics and do more details. A big gap in my wardrobe is tops. I have so many cute skirts but pairing them is hard. In the shops, it's hard to find a blouse that isn't a tee or one that makes you look like a secretary. I can imagine the first one in a blue or emerald. The second set is really pretty it could look a bit mature on me. The last group is so youthful. I think the halter would be great in a tiny floral or graphic print. I tend to favor sleeveless items because they go from season to season easily. You can pair them with sweaters in the colder months without weird sleeve bulge. McCall's 2206. I picked this up at the thrift store. Of course, I love the sleeveless view. I think it would look wonderful in a nice mustard or bold purple. And the long sleeve in a cool black and white print would look perfectly mod.Another Joan Holloway dress. My last Joan dress wasn't a failure but I haven't worn it out. I think this time I will use a modern pattern and use vintage details like hand picked zippers. The Jenny Lewis romper. I already have the fabric. Well I've had it for three years and I may have enough left to make a cute matching skirt. The print isn't exactly the same but it's a brown floral and that's close enough for me.

Mixing textures creates such a richness in an outfit. It can be simple or dramatic. As simple as adding a leather jacket or playing with different fabric combinations like velvet and leather, heavy wool and silk, or a sheer fabric and denim.Rodarte (1) played with a textured sheer and a grandpa sweater. McQueen (2) is dramatic, mixing ceramic tiles and organza for a royal look. Christian Siriano's (3) look can be done similarly for everyday: a basic tee and a textured skirt in a complementary color. The look can be quite striking when done monochromatic like at Chado Ralph Rucci (4) and DVF (5).
Going monochromatic allows you to get crazy with textures. I love the ribbon flowers on the Modcloth dress. They are so sweet. The buttery smoothness of the blazer provides warmth. The studded Sam Edelman's add some sass to this saccharine look.For a casual everyday look choose one piece that has a lot of texture. This skirt is so floaty and adds some fairy princess into your everyday life. A simple black tank anchors the dreamy skirt. This necklace is perfect because it's David Bowie. Bowie goes with everything. Brogues are a great shoe for this look. This is a party look. For me parties are an excuse to dress up even though no one else does. The focal point are these Bebaroque leggings. The sequins will do the dancing for you. These leopard shoes are insanely amazing. The gold skirt and sheer blouse top off the look.

I wore my embroidered skirt to run some errands. I changed into something else to hang out with my friends. It took me so long to finish this skirt and I barely wear it. Do you ever take a long time on things and never use them? I remember spending countless hours of rehearsals embroidering this.Shirt-Thrift, Skirt- Made by me, Shoes- ThriftI decided to balance out the innocent bottom half of my outfit with a slightly sexy top. I feel like the lace is a nice contrast to balloons and ruby slippers.I really like this skirt but I always have trouble pairing it with things and it has so many colors so it should go with a lot.

I'm going to make that when I finish my dress.I'm not actually going to wear these shoes because I have to lug a giant sewing machine and my fabric up some stairs so flats will be worn. Subtle Mixing

I wore this outfit today. Capturing black details is very tricky.I loved mixing the graffiti print of my Marc Jacobs top with the brocade of the thrifted skirt. Birthday Outfit

It was birthday over the weekend. My parents took me to my favorite restaurant. This is what I wore. On Sunday, my friends threw me a Star Wars themed surprise party. They gave me Star Wars trouble and a Jar Jar binks key chain (because they think the amount I don't like Jar Jar is very funny). I know it sounds like I was turning 5 but really it was 18.

Harry Potter Necklaces

Harry Potter and millions of childhoods are ending soon. There are a lot of really cool Harry Potter inspired necklaces on Etsy. They are perfect for going to see the movie and allowing Hogwarts to live in your heart forever. The time turner is one of my favorite magical items. It allows the wearer to go back in time. In addition to being practical, it's really pretty. This one has a cat charm on it too. $35 Quidditch is a really popular wizard sport. If you catch the snitch you pretty much win the game. This one opens and says, " I open at the close." $19 This necklace has the symbol of the Deathly Hallows, the invisibility cloak, resurrection stone and elder wand. This one is perfect for watching the last movie. $25 I remember being very dissapointed that I never got a Hogwarts acceptance letter. But with this necklace I can finnaly go there. $23

Purple Leopard

I wore this to go to the grocery store to get ingredients for dinner. I'm cooking and it is striking fear and excitement from my parents. I will be making Beouf a la ficelle and pommes puree from The Les Halles Cookbook. One of my goals for this year is to learn to make something other than ramen. Hopefully by the time my meal is done I will look as smug as Anthony Bourdain.This is one of my favorite dresses I've made. I wear it so often. Tomorrow I will be starting my undersea dress. I'm going to buy a pattern because it turns out that I don't know a lot about pattern drafting. I'm going to a fort where they do fireworks and going to have a picnik.

What to wear for the Fourth of July

Fourth of July is a great holiday. It revolves around fireworks and food, two of my favorite things. I guess its also about freedom and patriotism but I can't eat that. I like to dress in themes. The fourth is difficult because it is very easy to look like America just threw up all of its patriotism on you. If you're like me and like to avoid things described as "it looks like (blank) threw up on you" my only exception to this rule is glitter. So let's get some classy Fourth of July paint collages!This dress is so sweet. The ring adds some red and white. The leopard heels make things fun and modern.If you find yourself attending a party without pesky things like grass,children and things you can easily spill on yourself, wear beautiful shoes. These Alexander McQueen's are so beautiful. So pretty they could be an outfit just by themselves but you should probably wear a dress with them so you don't get arrested. The Anthropologie dress is a good pick. For those of you who plan to do sports stuff like Frisbee and soccer you should wear shorts. These scallop shorts are adorable.The tank top has a really cool back and it will keep you comfy while running. Sneakers are essential so the sneaker that look like saddle shoes are a good choice. Unicorn earrings keep things girly, and as everyone knows unicorns are the animals of independence!If those ideas don't help you, find an engineer and/or firework expert and wear a spark bra! It works for Gaga;it can work for you!

Braids

I wanted to use this post to show you what the saleslady called "disco shorts" but the photos looked too sad. But today's photos turned out well. This is what I wore to the library to pick up the last two Harry Potter books. Dress-H&M,brooch-giftI wore an owl brooch to make the outfit fun. I put my hair in milkmaid braids because it was really hot. I'm going to experiment with more hair up styles. I can't wear a bump-it everyday. My hair couldn't tolerate that much teasing. The length of the dress is longer than usual. I tend to wear knee-length or mid thigh dresses. I think the longer length is a nice change. I wore this when I was interviewed for the news a while ago. I can't find the video online but if you guys want to see it I'll see if my friend has it.

Jeffrey Campbell

Jeffrey Campbell makes a solid shoe. I used to not get the hype but, now I do. Interesting heels,lots of glitter, a fondness for leopard print I don't know what more a person could want in their shoe. I picked four of my favorites and made outfits for them.This jumper shoe is so modern that I think it would look really cool with a completely vintage look. A 1950s dress with interesting bust details echoes the gap in the shoe.Cat-eye glasses complete the retro look.
These silver shoes are so Ziggy Stardust! It makes sense to pair them with a jumpsuit and a seventies style hat to complete the look.

The skate shoes are a favorite of mine. I love the really interesting heel. Pick up the angles in the shoe with an origami style dress and a contrasting necklace .

Some would say with a glitter shoe less is more and to pair it with something simple like a black dress. I say, "more is more. Pile on the sequins and glitter." (That statement is why I have been told I have the taste of a drag queen). A short set is so fun. The cardigan adds some modesty and the bracelet adds some more color.

I wore a very casual dress today and decided it needed to be spiced up. And what's spicier than a giant hat? Nothing! I made this dress in tenth grade. It was the first dress I was ever really proud of. I still love it even though I wear it less. I don't wear little a-line dresses as much anymore. I mostly wear full skirted things. It is a great summer dress so, I'll pull it out more often.Dress-Made by me,hat-Key West,Bag-Monster Ball I wore this to grab lunch with a friend. I told him about a food truck I tried at a street fair. It was in a location close to us today so we stopped by the Gypsy Queen Cafe

I wore this to go dinner the other night. I wore one of my favorite DVF dresses. It isn't as jubilant as my other one but, I love it. Dress- Diane Von Furstenberg gift,Shoes-PaylessMy step dad and I went to Fogo de Chao, it wasn't as fancy as we thought it would be. We wanted a really classy meal. They keep bringing you meat if your card is green. I think that their lamb was very good. I paired this dress with my leopard shoes. I thought the two prints looked really good. I'm on the second Harry Potter book. I'm hoping to reread them all before the new movie comes out.

I went on a short boat cruise for fathers day. I wore this outfit yesterday to hang out with my friends. We tanned in overcast weather and made cookies. McQueen

Alexander McQueen is know for theatrics but, he also made beautiful clothes. He was a trained tailor. His clothes are dramatic,romantic,dark,and tough. McQueen is my favorite designer. It was said that,"if he had nothing he would still create." He put so much beauty in the world and these are my favorite looksFall 2006

I love that this look draws back to McQueen's Scottish heritage. He was very passionate about his ancestry; he says that," The reason I’m patriotic about Scotland is because I think it’s been dealt a really hard hand. It’s marketed the world over as . . . haggis . . . bagpipes. But no one ever puts anything back into it.” I also love the asymmetrical bustline and the floral underlay. This is a romantic and tough look. It really exemplifies the McQueen woman.Spring 2010

One of McQueen's strengths was contrast. This piece shows it perfectly; the jersey dress and tailored coat. I love the print of this coat-dress.

Fall 2009

I like the way different sizes of the same print were used. I also really like the shape of it.

Fall 2010

This is from his final collection. I love the way it flares out at the hips. The heavily embroidered center is my favorite part of this dress.

Spring 2006

Saying that this dress is dramatic and beautiful is an understatement. In my mind, the antlers are just a fraction of what makes this dress lovely. The lace work is so stunning. The way it cascades on the skirt is masterful. This is such an amazing dress.

Spring 2001

This collection was dark. The presentation was like a hospital. I love the contrast between the microscope slides and the feathers. The slides were dyed red to suggest blood. I love the back of this dress. The racer back and feathers work so well together. It has a high neck which is one of McQueen's signatures. He says,"There’s blood beneath every layer of skin."

Spring 2003

This collection was the story of a shipwreck. I love this dress. It has layers of organza. They are arranged perfectly. I love how the dress looks disheveled and like it is falling off of the body. The dress is called the oyster dress and the bottom of the dress looks like a oyster shell.

Spring 2010

Everything about this look is perfect. She's a modern day underwater siren. I love the shape of the skirt. It has perfect folds. I'm also so in love with the shoes.

Fall 2008

Fall 2008 was such a magical collection. The story behind it was wonderful; a girl who emerges from a tree to meet a prince and become queen. This dress is wonderful because it's covered in sultry red feathers. I adore feathers. The back is spectacular too. It turns into a frothy confection.

Spring 2007

I remember seeing this dress in a Harper's Bazaar editorial and I thought it was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen. I love the real flowers and the Victorianness of the high collar. This is such an amazing piece. I was always into fashion but this was the dress that made me realize clothes could be art too. This was the dress that made me fall in love with Alexander McQueen.

I went to Honfest today. I love that it is an excuse to wear red lipstick and leopard print. Dress-Forever 21,glasses-prom,shoes-Target

I used two bump-its in my hair. I really like this style and it only took about five minutes. There is so much hairspray in my hair. I think I may try this hair more often.

I got to go back to my favorite store today. I got a dress and a brooch.

I've had a good week. I'm going to see the Hangover 2 tonight. I'm probably a little too formal but I spent all Tuesday in gym shorts. I went kayaking. And Wednesday's outfit was simple because moving hurt (from kayaking). So today,I'm making up for all of the casual. I love the combo of blue and purple. Are you noticing that I look slightly less pale? I got some sun while paddling. Shirt-JcPenny,skirt-thrift,shoes-Payless,Necklace-Ayana designs These are the shoes I wore to my prom. They are really pretty and really high. I packed flats in my bag.

I finished Bossypants by Tina Fey it was really good.

Chiffon is the fabric of glamour and sophistication. I love the way it drapes.I love the way blue chiffon looks paired with a purple underlining. I love the collar on this dress too.$204 I think printed chiffon is awesome too! I love the way the print accents the draping on the bodice of this dress. This dress looks so perfect for summer barbecues.$310 As big of a fan as I am for full-skirted dresses, chiffon can also be used in other ways. Yesterday I got my Ayana Designs necklace that I won in Couture Carrie's giveaway. It is so pretty. Dress-Marshall's,glasses-prom favor, necklace- Ayana DesignsI'm wearing it to dinner with a family friend. I was so excited about the necklace I forgot to take a picture of it while it was in the box. I'm really happy with necklace.

I had my actual graduation on Thursday. I was short,sweet and my last name was pronounced right.
