Butterick 6582

I made a dress for my birthday party last Saturday. I used Butterick 6582.
This dress has been a long time in the making. I bought this pattern more than a year ago on sale The fabric was a Tommy Hilfiger sheet I got at the thrift store a bit more than a year ago. I didn't know what I wanted to do with the pattern or the fabric until the pattern was on my desk and the fabric was behind me and it just CLICKED. However, It does need a belt.
I cut the pattern out and that went smoothly. I started assembling the dress. It used sew in interfacing which I had never used before but it wasn't difficult. I started putting the top together and disliked it. When I was understitching the facing I was afraid I was going to sew my finger. When I turned the fabric right side out it was rumply, A friend texted me at this point and asked me what i was up to I replied I'm yelling obscenities at a piece a leopard fabric. I like the neckline. Its a faux wrap. And I really like the gathered shoulders.

After I put the back facing in it told me slip stitch the facing to the zipper tape. And I was all what zipper?!?! At this point I decided to do it my way. Which was pretty much the way the pattern wanted you to I just made up the order. I told my friend I didn't hate purple leopard dress anymore. I put in the zipper by hand because I couldn't get it right with the machine. I also thought my thread color stood out too much. I finished it last Saturday morning so I could wear it to my birthday party. I wanted to hem it by hand but that morning I was like no time for that. So I may take out the stitching and do it by hand later.

But I really like the dress now. I don't know if I would make the dress again but the pencil one with shoulder bows is very tempting. And it moves very well.

I went to dream land in Hampden last week. It is one of my favorite stores. They have a great selection and good prices. I tried on so many things. I really liked this dress and matching coat. I got this romper for $25 and Weiss brooch $20. I think The romper may be a bathing suit since there is an underwear type thing inside the shorts. I wore this to go make brownies with some friends.
These are the shoes I wore it's also a better picture of the color of the romper.
As I was checking out I saw This brooch and Ive been wanting a brooch. Its Weiss which according to the owner is the best costume jewelry.

Isn't it pretty. I got my senior pictures back. I took them at the end of the school year and they turned out really well ansd I got to wear one of my favorite dresses. These are my favorites.

I start my senior year of high school next week. I'm not really looking forward to summer being over because its been pretty good.

Lunch outfit

I wore this outfit yesterday to go get a crepe and swim.
The dress is really comfy and I love the print.
The bag is a gift from a few years ago. I hardly show my bag in outfit posts but I usually carry this one or a big tote bag.
Today I had a low key day I got to go to my favorite store and got a romper and a brooch and now I'm finishing all the fun hand sewing on my dress so I can wear it tomorrow.

Fall Wishlist

Its only early August and I'm already thinking of a fall wardrobe. I need to go clothes shopping soon and my school year is starting earlier than normal.

As I've explained before my top selection is really small; its mostly black tees with designs on them. I also have trouble finding blouses that don't look like they belong in an office. But I think this one from Fred flare is great. The sheer yoke is so charming. How great would this look with a full skirt and a rhinestone necklace?
I like stripes; I like peter pan collars. I obviously like this shirt/dress that combines both. I'd also like a cardigan in a color that isn't yellow. And a feather jacket but that's a whole other post because I'm not sure about color and shape yet so I feel like I need to lay it out visually.

I really like full skirts because they are so fun to swish in. This skirt looks super swishable. And I think it would be really cute with my pastel petticoat under it.
On the opposite end of the spectrum I want a pencil skirt or two. In either an emerald or a large floral print.
I think these are good fall shorts. They'd look good with cardigans and tights.

Brooches I need brooches to keep my green shirt nipped in at the waist. I think this little guy will match perfectly.
What do you want for fall?
